Adulting 101

This program helps youth prepare for life after high school by empowering them with practical knowledge and skills. They will learn about renters’ and workers’ rights, and how to eat healthy on a small budget. They will leave with a toolbox filled with life hacks to be able to advocate for themselves with confidence.

Home Alone  FULL
Ages 9-13
Children need to feel comfortable, safe and confident to stay home alone. Guardians will be equipped with the knowledge and resources to help the children in their care to feel safe, responsible, and empowered during brief periods of supervising themselves. A 30-minute, virtual parent/caregiver portion is required. Your facilitator will be in contact to arrange times that are agreeable to both.

These sessions are based on the “What to do When…” series of youth workbooks. They are designed to introduce and exercise practical and healthy coping strategies for a variety of situations and challenges.  
Session One: What to do When Worries Get Too Big
Wouldn’t it be great if you did not worry at all?  To be able to manage the anxiety of over thinking future events which we cannot control; what if you could plant your worry and watch it grow?  Many things may be on your mind, from what you are going to eat the next day, to what friends you are going to hang out with at school. This interactive course is designed to empower youth to overcome their worries.

Cold Lake Youth Council is a youth-led, volunteer-based group focused on social and civic advocacy that acts as a voice for the young people of Cold Lake and as peer advocates.
